Red Roses for the Ladies

This red rose came from a friend
Thank You girl!

Red rose has number of thorns in it, when it pinches your fingers it hurts. Everyday in my life is just like red roses. Sometimes life is not always a bed of roses, but life is great with GOD. Now, it's my turn to share this red rose. Im passing this to:

Aggie
Andrea
Alpha
Nyree
Pat
Peachy

come what may

I suddenly missed my dad. I remember, I used to sing this song with him during our free time when I was a lot younger and he was still based here. My dad, for those of you who doesn't know, is very good with musical instruments. He played the drums when he was younger. He still strums the guitars. He plays the piano "ouido style" and he has a very good singing voice. Although, I did not get this talent/s from him, he would always tell me how great my voice was (syempre tatay ko yun eh!) and how he loves me so much.

For you, dad. Thanks for the gift of you!

wish i was your child
hold me in your heart
we could love so free
and know it never goodbye
but i am not a child
and wish for starframe
my love

no i never be afraid of who i am
and who i am not come what may
wish i was a bird
i worned you with my wings
safe from all the storm
you know what true love can bring
but i am not a bird
and wishes and just fly away
my love

no i never be afraid of who i am
and who i am not come what may

la la la
la la la

but i am not the voice
shinning in your eyes
that you understand
my love

no we never be afraid of who we are
and who were not come what may

no we never be afraid of who we are
and who were not come what may

no we never be afraid of who we are
and who were not come what may

Rest day for me.

Song of the Moment: Sleeps with Butterflies

One of the best songs that Tori has ever sang. My favorite. Check out the lyrics. You will fall in love.

Airplanes
Take you away again
Are you flying
Above where we live
Then I look up a glare in my eyes
Are you having regrets about last night
I'm not but I like rivers that rush in
So then I dove in
Is there trouble ahead
For you the acrobat
I won't push you unless you have a net

You say the word
You know I will find you
Or if you need some time
I don't mind
I don't hold on
To the tail of your kite
I'm not like the girls that you've known
But I believe I'm worth coming home to
Kiss away night
This girl only sleeps with butterflies
With butterflies
So go on and fly then boy

Balloons
Look good from on the ground
I fear with pins and needles around
We may fall then stumble
Upon a carousel
It could take us anywhere

I'm not like the girls that you've known
But I believe I'm worth coming home to
Kiss away night
This girl only sleeps with butterflies
With butterflies

let's do it online

Casinos are very popular nowadays. They are there to entertain guests or players who are willing to shell out extra cash for fun and games. Now, one doesn’t have to go out of the comforts of their homes to have fun. All they ever have to do is to log on the computer and look for an online casino of their choice. They provide up to date information about gambling and the best online casinos in the world. Imagine having the same excitement and thrill right under your own roof and in the comforts of your own home?

online backgammon

I surf the net and look for games most of the nice to relieve the stress that I get from work. I tried different kinds of online games and the internet backgammon caught my fancy. What made it more exciting is you get the option to play for fun or real money. How cool could that be? During my spare time (which is usually before bedtime), I’d log on to the net and play backgammon until my eyes drop and I feel back pains hahaha! I know it’s not stress relieving if you’re having back pains and all but for me, this is what makes online backgammon more exciting and fun!

online billiards

I have never tried playing billiards all my life but my husband is the exact opposite. He used to compete during his younger years and boy, would he win! Now that his priorities changed, he would play online billiards more. This is his most current obsession as it allows him to play with everyone around the world and gives him a wide array of billiard games from snooker to 9 Ball Pool. It seems as if he doesn’t mind not being able to go out anymore because online billiard thing is actually eating up most of his spare time!

let's try online backgammon

One of the many things that we do as a family is to play online games. Recently we have discovered the joys of online backgammon. We like it because the site is user friendly as it provides useful background about the game and helpful tips on how to play better. They offer backgammon tournaments which are really very easy as they have round the clock support we need them. Backgammon online offer live tournaments everyday and since it is available in six languages, more people could try it and enjoy!

bring it on!

My friends would always tease me that when it comes to playing poker, I am such a loser. That’s why I was so thrilled when I learned about this poker calculator. It helps you hone your poker skills to the next level. It’s such a fun game that you are allowed to dominate your opponents, and make playing poker online easier and more fun. The poker tips that they will give you are enough to beat your friends who are already into this online game. It is reassuring as the poker strategy that is offered are created with the assistance of professional and great poker players commissioned to help our beginners like me.

mango tango

Two weekends ago, I prepared some mango shake for Lizzie and myself. It was seething hot so I asked the maid to grab some mangoes in the market and brought out my "almost-unused" blender.

Here is the photo to prove it:

Here is the end result:

And here is my daughter enjoying her share of the shake:

I am grateful...

Ems tagged me and I am pleased because it gave me the chance to rethink about the things I am grateful for lately.

1. I am grateful for this chance to live, breath the air (though not as fresh as the ones we have back home)…
2. I am grateful for my daughter that she was given to me by the Supreme Being, and no one else.
3. I am grateful for my husband – our friendship, our relationship and this marriage.
4. I am grateful for good friendships that I have established all these years.
5. I am grateful for my day job and the moolah that comes with it!
6. I am grateful for my home, our business (struggling but very hopeful!) and the many opportunities to earn more money
7. I am grateful for my parents who are the best in nagging me to call them, or at least answer their phone calls! Hahaha!
8. I am grateful for my in laws. They are absolutely heaven sent to me. I can never imagine my life without them.
9. I am grateful that I am here today, still breathing and living the life that I have wanted.
10 I am grateful for I am FARAH. I wouldn’t want to be anyone else.

In order to be able to achieve and maintain happiness we need to, actively, be able to do two things:
1. Complain and then let go (Dump the baggage, the roadblocks to happiness.)
2. Express Gratitude (The open expression of gratitude promotes happiness.)

pods!

I am no junkfood biggie. The only thing I can stand eating for days is the Tortillos Red. Call me weird but it's just me. Well, that's before I went to my office's pantry and saw this yummy potater alternative in the food vendo. I was kinda hesitant to spend ten bucks for a bag but the 'evil side of me' decided to give it a try. First, the packaging was neatly thought of. The clean, crisp package design caught my attention. And the crunchiness of the pods were a delight to my mouth. It's like eating real peas haha!

It is baked so the health buffs need not worry. Not too much salt so the taste is just right.

At 10 a pack, it won't really hurt your pockets. So, grab now and enjoy the taste!

weekend snapshot/s

I had Lizzie swim all morning last Saturday. I didn't have work so I baby sat and enjoyed watching my little girl do her tricks in the water. She's all bubbly and confident. She's all grown up and ready to face the world! Sigh.

I'll post some more photos in the morning. Ta!

ESTREL'S: it floats off the table and into your mouth

A few days ago, we have found a piece of heaven in Estrel's Caramel Cakes. Though I'm not really big on sweet cakes, this one, I would say was an exception. This caramael cake, I would later learn is famous for its melt-in-the-mouth feel. To say that it's heavenly is an understatement. They have been around since 1948 but opted to be really low-profile about their business, even with the influx of customers in their homes, the owner never dreamed of going mainstream and selling their 'home-made, precious, mouth watering cakes' to commercial stores or bakeries. Birthday cakes should be ordered a day in advance by calling 372-2965 or 371-79-38, from 8:30am to 7pm daily. The catch here is you have to pick up the cake at 54 Scout Tobias St cor Scout Limbaga, Baranggay Laging Handa , Quezon City. Driving from my place in Cainta to far away kyusi on a saturday when the traffic is usually heavy is no joke. Pure effort pero ang sakit sa bangs, promise! Buti nalang masarap talaga sya. No kidding, masarap talaga sya. Period.

Try it.

weekend snapshots #1

Sweet moments between the tandem. This happened last Saturday when my mother in law invited us over for an impromptu family dinner at their terrace. We had inihaw na bangus, barbecue, palabok from pancit ng taga malabon, grilled tuna and ice cream for dessert. The boys had beer while we had soda.

We were busy sharing stories (read: mangialam ng buhay ng may buhay lol!) while my mag-ama were also busy telling stories to each other. My girl is very close to her dada that she feels really sad if he gets home a few minutes later than schedule (he should be home, according to Lizzie's standards, at 7pm sharp!).

Sweet moments are hard to come by so I had to capture it for posterity.

LOVE FOR THE KITCHEN

You all know that my mom cooks very well. Unfortunately, it was my brother who got her passion for cooking and not me. Oh well, I'm learning now but I'm not really into it. Hehehe. Anyways, when my mom was here for the holidays, she was reprimading again for my lack of interest in the kitchen. What can I do? Eh ayoko talaga e! So, when she saw that all the plates that she sent me when we got married has gone kaput, she wanted to scream at me pero natawa nalang sya kasi she can't get me into doing it eh.

Last monday, I received an email from dad about the dinnerware set that mom bought for me to be included in Lizzie's balikbayan box in time for her classes in June. I will share the pieces with you so that when my parents open this blog, they would know that I am grateful and proud of my new toys (which are currently in the middle of the pacific ocean) hahaha! Love you mommy! Thanks for never giving up on me. Someday, I might just learn to love cooking. And yup, I made yema balls last Sunday. Thank God, it wasn't a disaster anymore. Mwah!

a pc for a classmate

Intel has come up with another great innovation in the form of a laptop that's relatively smaller than the usual ones you see around but bigger than a pocket pc. Something that would perfectly fit a student's schoolbag. Powered by Intel, it is a mobile learning device for primary students, ages 5 to 14. Classmate PCs include practical, education-oriented features that improve the learning experience for students, parents, teachers and schools.

I was watching the news early tonight and the kids who were asked to test the device were all excited about this invention and most of them are hopeful that with this new tool, their skills will be enhanced, not to mention that as we are already living in computer age (where technology is synonymous to the rice crisis that the country is experiencing today), this will pose as an advantage to every filipino kid.

It was mentioned in the news that the manufacturer of this product will make sure that the price will be student friendly so that more can avail of this wonderful invention. An introductory price of no more than Php 18000.00 in the market but students can still avail of special promos.

If only these kinds of options were available during my childhood.

mad as a boar

I originally snagged this from em aka babs for my main blog. What's being asked here is for me to post a photo that shows my angry face. As I have mentioned in my other blog, I have really strong features so eventhough I am in a "steady mood", some might say that I am still "nagtataray". This was during our honeymoon in Singapore. It was seething hot as we went there during the summer so most of the time, I was really frowning hehehe. This photo was taken by my husband while I was queuing up to pay for the items we bought in an expo. I was tired, hungry and the heat added to my bad temper then. Hampanget pala when you frown. Hahaha!

bright ideas

Kate Spade has always been one of my all time favorite shops. When we went to HK last year, we spent a good hour checking out some nice finds in the store. Would you believe that this was established only because the owner, Katherine Noel Spade has been in search for the quintessential handbag which she has not seen in any of the shops that were available at that time? She, along with her then-boyfriend put up the shop in 1993. They specialize in handbags but they have since ventured to other collections like shoes, luggage, fragrances, sunglasses, apparel and would you believe, even baby things?

I searched for some cool items in their website and found a few which I want to share with you guys. A bit pricey but they durability is tested and the style is classic so it's worth all your money, indeed. Happy shopping!

Hello Kitty!

While I was dressing up for mass early this morning, I caught Tina Monzon Palma's interview with Kitty Go at ANC's The World Tonight (learned later that it was just a replay from TV Patrol the night before). I know of Kitty Go because I used to see her name all the time in magazines. She was an editor, I reckon. And a socialite. She was asked what her take was on this and my, I couldn't help but stop from what I was doing, sit on the corner of my bed and listen intently. She just talks with so much meat! Her candor impressed me. Such a woman of substance. I instantly became a fan.

And when I become a fan, I obsess. So can you imagine my plight the whole time today? My body was in the training room of Orient but my mind was in the bookstore alleys searching for the novels she made in 2005: When Chic Hits the Fan: Celebrity and Fashion Confessions of a Former Magazine Editor and Chic Happens. I can swear to the world that I was closed to pulling the hands of the clock so I can run to Podium or MegaMall and find out if they still have copies (I am doubting they run out of stock considering the Filipino mentality that if it's sikat now and was featured in primetime television, everyone will flock to the bookstores to grab a copy). I will have to find that out in a couple more hours. I just can't wait.

I just wish she won't fail me.
