better safe than sorry

Now that the holiday rush is over, it is time to think of more serious stuff like insurance and investments. Before the holidays kicked in, I was talking to our Seattle injury lawyer friend and he said that now that the global crisis is being felt by everyone not just in the US but around the world, it's smart to really think a hundred times about where to really put in your investments. Because of this, I have been reading much about stock market and etc. It's better to be really safe than sorry these days..

angelic face

My friend came up to me a few days ago about her recurring acne problem. She has had that since before but because it was treated, they went away until lately. She was wondering if I know of some best acne treatments and I immediately directed her to the site I chanced upon when I was browsing the net a few weeks back. She was elated to know that there's a chance her face will be healed. I hope so too as she has one of most of the most beautiful faces I have seen.

someone has a new LV...

nope... its' not me :)
(that's my hand though...)

random joy

1. What are your thoughts on chastity?
Chastity has always been a choice. You don't force anyone to be chaste. It always has to come from the heart.

2. How many days do you think you could go with only your computer for company?
I am starting to cut my ties with the computer (notice the lack of posts?). I am suffering from eyestrain and backpains lately that my doctor advised that I stop working in front of a computer for more than 3 hours straight. I used to love computers but eversince my health is going down, I am thinking otherwise...

3. What, in your opinion, is the exact opposite of butter?
Ahm, dryness? I am not really sure though...

4. Have you ever seen the musical "Cats"? If so, what did you think of it?
Yeah, I love it. My mom has even promised my daughter to bring her to las vegas when she grows a little older so she can watch more musicals.

5. What's the #1 thing on your wish list this holiday season?
Peace, Security, Safety and Prosperity :)

I am getting me this Longchamp Le Pliage bag this Holidays. Hmmm...

what kind of women's shoe are you?

You are Slinky Heels!

You're an uptown, well put together woman

But you're not too uptight to enjoy a hot club

You're always the best dressed chick in the room

And you'll only settle for the best in men

what kind of pajamas are you?

You Are Flannel Pajamas

You seek comfort above everything else. You rather feel good than look good.

You are a very relaxed person, especially when you're surrounded by your favorite things and people.

You are a homebody. Home is the place where you can truly be yourself.

You are likely to wear pajamas a lot. In fact, you often change into your pj's the minute you get home!

stress reliever

Although I am enjoying work, with it's complexities and all. I still wish to be able to spend more time with Lizzie by working from home. My husband has been convincing me to start checking on feasible home based business so we can start weighing our options for the coming year. It got me really excited knowing that I will be earning and at the same time spending time to monitor my daughter's progress in school and to witness all the smilestones in her young life. I am confident that this will work so I will strongly consider this at the start of next year. Goodbye, corporate life. Goodbye, ultimate stress...

baby alive

Lizzie has been bugging me about Baby Alive. She so wanted that doll since a few weeks ago but her dad and I are opposed to buying her something as expensive as this doll. We find it impractical for her age. At 3, all she knows is to cut her doll's hair, paint her face, remove her clothes and leave them as if the dolls were raped. I don't blame her because she's still a kid. And I don't expect her to handle her toys with care at this stage so as a resolution, we decided to just buy her toys (and dolls for that matter) that aren't really too pricey but are still nice. Baby Alive is nowhere near that. It is expensive hands down. But she loves it and she dreams about it LOL. I am almost convinced that she deserves something like this for Christmas considering her stellar performance in school and her good conduct all year round. But principles are principles. Now, my heart is breaking but my husband's right. She can't always have all the nice things in life...

~Is there a person who forgets what day is it today? Because I don't.

5. What five topics would you like to answer questions about on fridays?
~what to fix the day after, where to go, what to eat, where to bring Lizzie and what to buy

crocs lover

My love affair with crocs has never wavered since the time I got my first pair. Now after mroe than a year and several pairs after, I am busy choosing the styles I am getting this Christmas. Styles that are not just for me but for my daughter and husband as well.

First -- MINE:
The Crocs Malindi in cotton candy. It is stylish, fun flat that allows feet to breath in warm weather. Perfect for the summer!

The Crocs Mary Janes will be perfect with jibbitz™ brand charms.
And since I love brown at work, the Crocs Lena will perfectly complement my not so corporate attires without looking too lousy and unprofessional.

my body and me

I am starting to gain weight again. Blame it on the number of family get together that we have been attending since last month. I wonder if I need a female fat burner already but I'd rather not. My husband has been trying to convince me to go to the gym with him so I can lose weight and at the same time, tone my muscles but the better part of me chooses to just stay home and sleep. I am just so lazy it's bad! I better think things over and enrol before the year ends. I don't want to start the year with a not so good figure...

3x thursday

1. Are your parents still alive? If so, do you get along with them?
>>>Yup, they are still alive. Dad has a bad case of sore throat though so I hope he gets well soon. Other than that, they are both doing fine, are healthy as a horse and happily in love Ü Yup, I come from a very small family. I have an older brother and I am my family's little darling so they have no choice but to spoil me and love me and understand my moods. LOL

2. Do your parents live close? Why/why not?
>>>Unfortunately not. We are continents apart. They live in the US while I chose to stay behind here in the Philippines. Why? My own family is here.

3. Name one thing valuable that your parents taught you. Why did you choose this?
>>>Independence. They taught me not to rely on anyone else to survive. They taught me the value of hard work and perseverance and how prayers can move mountains. They are a very religious couple and I was raised in a family of praying people. I teach these same values now to my daughter.

the it bags

When it comes to bags, I would always tell my friends that I am always choosing Gucci over LV. Not that I don't like the latter. I just find the former really elegant and classy. This is one of the many things that my big boss and I share. And one of us come accross a style worthy of our time and eyes, we would share it to each other. The only difference is my boss gets to buy what she wants while I still have to save up for my first. I am not worrying though because I know in time, I will be able to get my own. For now, I have to make sure that all the bills get to be paid on time. All our dues are attended to without miss. Just like the other day, I had to research on some auto insurance quotes for one of our cars. I mean, at this point, these are things that are more important than designer bags and killer shoes. I will get what I want someday. I just know that.

friendship offering

I have stopped doing tags like this for a while. Probable because nobody has tagged me anymore hehehe. Nakakamiss din pala LOL. I am back. This time with a vengeance. Tagging Tracy, Pat, Val, Abie, Jane, Jody and Jacqui. Thanks Babs!

This tag is all about "FRIENDSHIP OFFERING" with someone whom you know, to someone whom you already knew or will know in the future, globally.

::: Start copying here:::

Here are the rules for this tag;
1.) Copy the badge and put it on your blog,
2.) Link back who pass you this tag,
3.) Spread this tag to at least 7 or more bloggers who you think you are friend with.

”And lovely are the blossoms
That are tended with great care,
By those who work unselfishly
To make the place more fair.
And, like the garden blossoms,
Friendship's flower grows more sweet
When watched and tended carefully
By those we know and meet.
And, if the seed of friendship
Is planted deep and true
And watched with understanding,
Friendship's flower will bloom for you. “

Change has come

"If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.
"It's the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different; that their voice could be that difference.

"It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled - Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America."

Change has come to America. I am elated. Thank you Lord.

i want # 1

Crocs in Alice.
Drool with me.

3 X Thursday

1. What motivates you? Why?
My family. Seeing my daughter strive to excel in her preschool. Watching her play with kids her age. My daugher going home with both her hands filled with "good job" stamps. That's what motivates me to work hard and at the same time, be a better person to the world.

2. What happens when you can't be motivated to do something you need to do? How do you get the motivation back?
I step back, reassess my goals in life then move on. Just by looking at my family and the dreams we build together brings back my motivation.

3. Are there any changes in the state of your world that need some motivation to do? What they are is optional, but how will you motivate yourself to do it?
Each day, my husband and I need to reassure each other that it's going to be a better day for us, for our daughter and this will be a better place to live in because we are striving hard. I guess, it all goes back to your support system. If you know that people support you, there's no reason for you to feel demotivated.

flipflops

Check out my current fave thing... collecting havis!!!

heart of gold

A cousin who grew up in the US has phoned me a few weeks ago sharing her new business venture. She tried teh aesthetics business by opening a salon, spa and wellness boutique as soon as she got off college. And now that the business is thriving, she dabbled into another field. She is now into wholesale fashion jewelry business. So far, so good she said. Aside from the fact that the business is blossoming, what makes it more special is the purpose of this business. Some of the items on sale are there to help some organizations. The proceeds of a bracelet, say for example, will go to a certain organization. Isn't that amazing?

My cousin has already saved enough for herself. She said that it's time to reach out to the less fortunate ones. Boy, I am proud!

Sunday Stealing on a Monday!

Sometimes I just need: to update all my blogs afterall but the 3 hours that I allot for PC time when I get home, while the little girl is taking her nap, seems to be not enough.
Sometimes I want: to experience how it is to be in the other part of the world.
Sometimes I like to: try my luck with those weight loss pills I see online. I heard they are good and are trully harmless. I just need to research on it a little bit more.
Sometimes all it takes: is dedication and a lot of hardwork!
Sometimes I picture: myself in a big house with white picket fence and a vast lawn.
Sometimes I wish: I were a rockstar!
Sometimes I find: some of the people I work with really shallow and senseless.
Sometimes I take: things for granted. Bad bad me.
Sometimes I look: in the mirror and ask myself: where have all the years gone, Farah?
Sometimes I hate: to go out of the house on a lazy saturday afternoon.
Sometimes it’s nice: to be nice to other people.
Sometimes it hurts: that people forget your special day.
Sometimes it makes me happy: to see that my daughter and husband are happy, and that my daughter is learning and she is becoming the person that I picure her to be.
Sometimes it’s sad: that the people you consider friends still talk ill about you.
Sometimes I listen: to what others are not saying.
Sometimes I sleep: to death! I love sleeping, it hurts my husband so much heee!
Sometimes I like to watch: the lifestyle of the rich and famous.
Sometimes I feel: bloated after a night of food and wine.
Sometimes I rant: about the small stuff!
Sometimes I never: turn on the PC when I want "QT" with my family.
Sometimes I really: want to shop til I drop.

pregnant again?

If these were in my wardrobe, then I want to be pregnant again... Such pretty eyecandies!!!

monday's a bitch!

1. When was the last time you were sick?
I was sick just last week. The doctor said it was due to lack of sleep, stress at work and very poor diet. As you lnow, I have been dissatisfied with my body weight that I am practicing the wrong diet for the wrong reasons. Although I have seriously contemplated on it, I am glad that I have not jumped into the pool of people who are taking appetite suppressants to lose weight. Not that it's a bad idea because some of them like this one which I have discovered is harmless and can be really helpful in losing weight.

2. Do you make an effort to try to avoid germs in places like public washrooms?
Yes. I keep a small bottle of alcohol in my bag and squirt on my hands, Lizzie's and Arthuz when we're out malling and we need to go to the loo.

3. What's the longest time you've been away from work/school due to illness?
I am not that sickly and if I am, I just take a day or two off.

4. What's your favourite comfort food for when you're not feeling well?
Soup and green mangoes (or any sour fruit!)

5. Are there any foods that you can't eat anymore, due to past experience with food poisoning?
I eat all sorts of food so this question does not suit me. Hehehe!

manic monday

How long does it take you to get out of bed in the morning?
I snooze my alarm twice then I drag myself out of the comforters otherwise I'll be late most of the time!

Do you usually sleep on one side of the bed or another?

Something you wish to accomplish before the end of the year:
Lose more pounds, gain more wisdom , friends and money...

unparalleled service

My grandmother has a carehome in California that is home to around 20 oldies. My mom and dad administers the entire facility and it is also their responsibility to make sure that the adult diaper is in abundance. Since mo is really adventurous when it comes to picking nice things for the old folks, she makes sure that she gets the best and the most comfortable ones that she can think of. She discovered that at Disposable Medical Express, she gets a wide selection of diapers at the best price coupled with unparalleled service. The company's purpose is simple and that convinced my mom to get supplies from them. I am glad that she discovered Disposable Medical Express. It just made her life so much easier!

swinging in the rain

Christmas is just around the corner. I have started with my list a few nights ago while my daughter was busy tracing the letters from her workbook. She has been working really hard in school that she extends her review time at home for another half an hour. I swear, I was never like that when I was her age, nor her dad. Her passion for learning is something she got from herself heee! That's the main reason why her dad and I agreed to give her the best gift this Christmas. An incentive of some sort for being the great girl that she is to us. We have been checking out some really nice wooden swing sets online. We saw one that would prettily sit in our garden. This early, I can imagine how she is going to play with the set on days she is not in school. We just need to check out how their shipping and handling is then we're set to place the order.

Stay tuned!

... be a good homemaker and finish all the pending stuff that I need to do for my home. Two weeks of setting aside domestic needs is over and it's time to move and work.

1. Have Lizzie's gown measurement taken by Ligaya. I've got to do this now or else I will be dead meat when my friend S calls me up first thing on Monday. I broke my promise twice already and I have no plans of breaking it again.
2. Bring Bob to the vet and talk to the pet house owner about the chihuahua that we will be getting for Lizzie.
3. Work on the budget for the coming week.
4. Look for new car covers. This has been long put on hold that it needs top priority later.
5. Get ingredients for the seafood pasta in the grocery. I need to do this tomorrow afternoon so I can scrap it in my list of things to do for the weekend.

Busy busy sunday. But, I am sure to have time for UAAP's game 1. Hahahaha!

the flame is burning

Because of his desire to have a Paolo Contis-slash-DingDong Dantes-slash-Rovilson Fernandez-slash-Marc Nelson body, my husband have been sweating it out (as in literally sweating it out) in the gym 5 times a week, 2 hours a day. He has been into this passion for almost 3 months now and so far, so good. I can see the effects already although I don't really compliment him that much lest he will try harder. Ir's sometimes funny already like a while back, he mentioned about this Ephedrasil Hardcore which his gym buddies were offering him. A fat burner? I asked him. But he was so convincing he can already pass as a sales rep. Well, we shall see about this in the coming days...

my besty and her future

My bestfriend J and I had a long phone conversation earlier this week. We were reminiscing about our lives in college, our first job together and our future. The flow of conversation was smooth until it turned out to be really nostalgic and our tone sad when she shared with me the news that she will be leaving for the US in a couple of months as there are a couple of Boston jobs that she is seriously considering. She is single so it's very easy for her to decide on things as big as this. We are both scared of what the future holds for her but we are also both excited and optimistic that it will be bright and sunny for her to live elsewhere. I will surely miss my besty but as we've promised each other, we will shop till we drop in NY and dine and wine in Cali when I get to visit her.

phone with antenna

One of the problems I have with my cellular phone was the strength of signal in varying places. When I am in a building, the signal is really strong but when I go mobile, the signal weakens. I never figured out what was wrong. At first, I would bring the unit to a service center but even the repairmen can't detect what was wrong with the phone. It was only until a friend mentioned about a cell phone repeater that I might need to install in my car to make sure that my phone's signal is always detected even when I'm on the go. Will give this a shot.

my name is Lizzie...

...I would like to share how my 3rd birthday went =)

Disclaimer: This is nothing fancy so you can skip this post a bit. Heee!!!

September 19, Friday
2:00 AM - I heard Mama get up from bed to take a shower.
2:40 AM - Mama wakes me up and asks Yaya to give me a quick hot bath and dress me up. She chose a red button down shirt and brown Khaki shorts for me to wear.
3:10 AM - We leave for Church. Mom said that Quiapo Church is very far from our house so I can still sleep while on the road. I slept.
4:00 AM - Mass. I was asleep the whole time but Mama and Dada said it was okay.
6:00 AM - My parents together with Lola Arlyn and Lolo Jun had breakfast at Delifrance while I played and had my favorite breakfast at Jollibee (cool that Delifrance and Jollibee in Libis are located beside each other)
7:30 AM - We're back home!! Yipee!! It's time to open my gifts Ü Dada said that I can only open them after the mass. I got a Dora MP3 player and some Disney stuff from Mama and Dada, educational toys from my other Ninongs and Ninangs and a cute Lisa Frank lunch box from Tita Kristel. Thanks mucho!
9:00 AM - Morning shower. I took my nap afterwards. Dada left for work na. Mama was working from the house. Before I slept, she was in front of her laptop typing and she was very busy.
12:00 Noon - Birthday Lunch of Kare Kare, Pancit (for long life) and Crispy Hito (mom's favorite!) at Mama Shine's house. Yum Yum Yum!!! I finished 3 plated of pancit!
4:00 PM - Let the party begin! I spent my birthday with the kids of our employees. We had spaghetti, puto, chicken and cake. There were games and the kids sang songs for me. The party was held at my Lola Arlyn's hardware. It rained so hard but it did not spoil the fun. I was very happy.
7:00 PM - We're back home. I am so tired. There were no gifts from my visitors but I was still happy. I slept early.

Thank you for reading this post. And to Mama, thanks for letting me share how my 3rd birthday went, to your online friends.

Till next year,
Lizzie

my sunshine and moonbeam

Today is my little girl's 3rd birthday. I never imagined that time can fly this fast. One lesson that I learned is to savor every moment spent with your child. Because they tend to grow up so fast. And the more you stop the turning of the tide, the more it just slips out of your hand. At 3, she is really advanced in everything that she does and everything that she says. We try to be careful with our words and actions because she can easily pick up. She loves to sing and she can complete a whole song with the correct tune and with her eyes closed (for added emotions!). She dresses up by herself and needs little supervision. She can read a few short words but can write the letters in the alphabet. She is far from being genius but I am trully grateful for all her accomplishments. Oh, did I say that she eats on her own now?
You can read another tribute for her here.
Happy Birthday Patoots! You are God's greatest gift to Mama and Dada. We love you!!!
